Office of the Executive Secretary

The main function role of the office of the Executive Secretary is to ensure the effective coordination of the entire activities of the Nomadic Education Programme (NEP). For effective discharge of its responsibilities, the office of the Executive Secretary has seven operational units, viz: Internal Audit, Information and Protocol, and Legal Services. The Deputy Director, Administraion in the office of the Executive Secretary oversees the activities of the Units under the Special Projects Section. These include Legal Services, SERVICOM, Information and Protocol, Internal Audit, Collaboration and Partnership, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Physical Planning units. The general function of the office of the Executive Secretary include, among others, to:

  • Liaise with the Presidency and National Assembly from time to time;
  • Liaise with the Honourable Minister of Education on matters relating to policy formulation, implementation, funding and general management of NEP;
  • Sustain and enhance advocacy and mobilization activities on the NEP;
  • Sustain Cordial relationship cooperation with states and local communities;
  • Coordinate, sustain and enhance relationship and synergies with international organizations as well as non-governmental agencies involved in nomadic education programmes in Nigeria;
  • Ensure successful execution of all the NEP project to achieve its set goals; and
  • Sustain and increase enrolment campaigns and mobilization drive to ensure social inclusion.

  • Quarterly Visitation to Zonal Offices
  • Verification of completed capital Projects
  • Conducts quarterly and yearly Stock taking Exercise
  • Pre and post payment Audit of financial records.
  • Control of advances retirement, Imprest and stationary.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual Audit reports.
  • Liaising with External Auditors and other Statutory Auditors, and
  • Any other schedule that may be assign to the Unit.
  • Developed tender documents for projects.
  • Setting out standards for monitoring of school projects.
  • Monitoring of implementation of projects.
  • Developing of bills for the rehabilitation of dilapidated school buildings.
  • Identification of schools where sanitation were lacking and provision of same.
  • Identification of schools where furniture were lacking and provision of same.
